So well written and an easy read. I love the bullet points at the end of each chapter. So many great ideas and common sense approach to all aspects of the game. I have read lots of golf books but I put this in my top 2 so far. When you think what one lesson costs, this book is a great investment in your game.

I had no idea what to expect when I purchased this book. It is 401 pages, but it doesn't read like 401 pages. The chapters are brief, and at the end of each chapter, the learning points are succinctly summarized in a brief section called "Big Ideas". If you're busy like me, managing to work long hours, care for a family, and of course play as much golf as possible, the book format is simply perfect. I'm a high handicapper, take lessons, and of course consume as much golf content as I can on any given day. Not to be cliché, but I haven't even completed Part 2 yet, and I have already lowered my scores and increased my enjoyment. I read Chapters 3 and 4 twice before moving on I liked them so much. The portion on managing expectations was tremendously impactful. You can tell the author's passion for helping people enjoy the game of golf. It permeates through his sharing of his experiences, thoughtful anecdotes, and the care that was taken to provide helpful insight, well-researched statistics, and perspective. I'll update this review when I complete the book, but I'm so happy with it to this point, I felt it important to post a review, in case it might aid others in making a purchasing decision. Play well, fellow golfers.

This is a unique book in the golf world, IMO. Conversational and helpful. and quite well organized. If you listen to his Sweet Spot podcast, you should get what you would expect in this book. I would say that the most common question for someone who has NOT mastered the game is, how can I be more consistent? This is the ONLY book I have read which attempts to define consistency. Easy stats and numbers are required, but the final answer is indeed pleasing, and I would say rational. My only bone to pick with the book is one comment - he calls the short game and putting "low-hanging fruit". Perhaps, but might that not be why people who struggle don't lower their handicaps? 60 rounds a year, and still messing up your chips? Took me years to not hate my putting game, and the short game is still a work in progress. So, no, that comment could be revised, somehow, to not belittle those whose confidence can vanish so easily when within 50 yards of the greens. Regardless, great book.

Jon Sherman’s book, The Four Foundations of Golf is a book every golfer should have and should read numerous times! This is a book to read, underline things, bend pages and maybe even take a pic with your phone so you have things in your mind before and after a round. I found myself reading a part and thinking yup I have done that and then on a second read a week later realized I changed a habit. I have seen people say they shot their best round after reading the book. Perhaps lucky perhaps using some of the info made that happen. I know for my game following his advice of back green measurements and center of green aims has made a huge difference in scoring. In fact, my first hole in one occurred after rereading this. Perhaps luck perhaps useful reminders! The book is a great coaching manual for the best game on earth. Buy it, read it, use it! It will, without question, improve both your approach to the game and ultimately your score. Well done, Jon!

I’ve read multiple books in the past couple of years on golf. Mostly on the approach to the game, as opposed to the technical side. This book is written in a simple, straightforward way, that focuses on improving your golf game using such things as attitude, expectations, practice methods, and learning to control your mind while on the course. I recently read ( or started to ) the Putting Bible, by Dave Pelz. Had to pause as it was way to technical, and hard to grasp, unless you were a math or physics geek. This read, however is clear, concise, to the point, and hits all the buttons for a pathway to success on the links…

I found this book due to a playing partners shaving strokes after reading it.I picked it up and definitely feel the info presented is valuable and actionable. Jon's podcast which I now also listen too reinforces his teaching in this book.

This is a great book for anyone who plays golf and is looking to learn how to get better! The book is well organized into 4 major foundations and each foundation has subsections/chapters that are generally concise discussion points focused on more specific topics. The book is well written and I believe will serve as a great resource to go back to time and time again (I just got it so haven't gotten to the point of rereading sections yet). Really can't recommend this enough for those who are looking at ways to improve both how they think the game, and ultimately how to have the best possible golfing experience each time you get the chance to play!

Pratique et logique mais il faut ancrer en soi cette « routine » mentale et physique pour pouvoir en bénéficier. Cela demande constance, engagement et persévérance. Alors je ne vous dis pas bonne chance mais bon courage….!
